    Pilgrimage of Sumuleu Ciuc

    STORY FRAMEWORK

The Young Europe Society Romania has organized a Youth Camp for teenagers in Șumuleu Ciuc (Csíksomlyó). Young people aged between 14 and 17 from all around the country arrived and occupied their rooms in a guesthouse. They had one week to explore the area, get to know each other and have fun.

  • VISITING THE CHURCH

Next day in the morning the young people went to church together. They listened to the priest attentively. At the end the priest was very kind and showed them around the church. In the next task you can also read some important information about the church in Șumuleu Ciuc (Csíksomlyó).

  • WATCHING A VIDEO

After their visit to the church, the young people were interested in the pilgrimage that was so often mentioned by the priest. As it was raining heavily, the organizers decided for them to stay indoors and watch some videos about the pilgrimage event and tell the young people about this tradition.

Below you can watch one of the videos which tells the story of the pilgrimage:

  • PILGRIMAGE PROGRAMME

The videos convinced the young people to take part in the pilgrimage that year so they asked for a programme.

  • A PACKAGE HOLIDAY TO ȘUMULEU CIUC (CSÍKSOMLYÓ)

The Young Europe Society Romania who organized the camp for the young people explained to the participants that the place and the topics of the camp were chosen because it is the Year of European Cultural Heritage, and the Pilgrimage of Șumuleu Ciuc (Csíksomlyó) was nominated to be added to the list of intangible cultural heritage of Romania.

  • FEEDBACK TIME

On the last day of the camp, young people had to give feedbacks about how they felt and what new things they learnt during the camp. Young people all liked the activities and said that they learnt a lot about the pilgrimage tradition. They also promised to come back and take part in the event at the end of May.
